Join AFOS for the April AFOS Tuesday Talk

AFOS Member, Dr. Jasmin Filpo, will present a 1-hr COPE accredited course titled "Co-Managing Rhegmatogenous Retinal Detachment: An Evidence-Based Protocol for Optometric Practice ".  

This course provides optometrists with a practical, case-based approach to recognizing, triaging, and co-managing rhegmatogenous retinal detachments. Participants will review risk factors, clinical presentation, and surgical options, while exploring post-operative complications and strategies for long-term patient care. Emphasis is placed on the optometrist’s critical role before, during, and after surgery to optimize visual outcomes and preserve vision.

Dr. Jasmin Filpo

Dr. Filpo is an Army optometrist and a respected leader in military healthcare, with specialized expertise in vision rehabilitation and specialty contact lenses. She earned her Doctor of Optometry degree from the Southern College of Optometry and completed a Primary Eye Care residency at Womack Army Medical Center through the Northeastern State University Oklahoma College of Optometry. She also holds an MBA in Healthcare Administration from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville.

Dr. Filpo currently serves as the Chief of the Optometry Department at Brooke Army Medical Center, where she leads clinical operations, residency training, and interdisciplinary patient care. She also contributes to the broader military optometry community as President of the Alamo Triservice Optometric Society and as Co‑Chair of the Education Committee for the AFOS.
