Medicare Payment Sequestration Suspension Extended to March 31, 2022

The suspension of the 2% sequestration applied to all Medicare Fee-for-Service (FFS) claims has been extended. The Protecting Medicare and American Farmers from Sequester Cuts Act, which was signed into law on December 10, 2021, extends the suspension through March 31, 2022.

The law further indicates that the sequestration payment adjustment will be gradually applied once the extension expires. From April 1, 2022, through June 30, 2022, the payment adjustment shall be 1%. Effective July 1, 2022, the payment adjustment shall return to 2% for all Medicare FFS claims.
