NCCN has introduced a Payer Relations Resource Page
The NCCN Payer Relations Resource Page is designed to support utilization management teams, medical directors, and peer reviewers in the application of NCCN Clinical Practice Guidelines in Oncology (NCCN Guidelines®) and related NCCN Content into payer policy. With payer utilization of NCCN Content at an all-time high, NCCN is proud to offer this resource, intended to provide additional context and clarification regarding certain nuances within NCCN recommendations that may be helpful during medical policy review, prior authorization, and peer-to-peer discussions. Whether the end user has extensive experience in cancer care or a clinician from another specialty participating in oncology coverage determinations, these resources are designed to support a clearer understanding of NCCN Content and its intended clinical application.1
Important NCCN clarifications
- Step therapy, within a line of therapy, is not clinically recommended within any NCCN Guideline.1
- The intent of the NCCN Guidelines is to assist in the decision-making process of individuals involved in cancer care, with the ultimate goal of improving patient care and outcomes. The NCCN Guidelines are not intended to be interpreted as a clinical pathway.1
