Rotation Month at OPA:  January 2015

How did you get interested in the profession of pharmacy?

In school I always enjoyed math and science, and one of my first jobs in high school was at a local pharmacy. While working at the pharmacy, I learned how much pharmacists are able to positively impact a patient's health and how much pharmacists know about medications interacting with the human body.

Why did you choose OPA as a rotation site?

I learned about OPA through my involvement in the OSU chapter of NCPA. Through my involvement, I was able to work with a past OPA resident and she really increased my interest in advocacy and getting involved with professional organizations.

What was the most significant or surprising experience at OPA?

The most significant experience at OPA was being able to attend all the different OPA committee and task force meetings.  These meetings taught me a lot about the legislative process, how OPA operates and how much time and effort goes into the annual conference and each Ohio Pharmacist Journal.

What other pharmacy associations/organizations do you belong to?

I am also a member of NCPA, and APhA.

Hobbies:

I enjoy cooking, reading, and going to new restaurants and breweries in Columbus with friends
