Brian Williams, OD (VA)

President-elect

 

Dr. Williams graduated from The Ohio State University College of Optometry and completed a Primary Care and Ocular Disease residency at the Columbus and Chillicothe VA Medical Centers. After working in the private sector at a surgical referral center specializing in cornea, refractive, and premium IOL surgery, he returned to the VA and currently practices at the Mansfield VA Outpatient Clinic, affiliated with the Cleveland VA Medical Center.

As Associate Chief, Dr. Williams oversees the community-based outpatient clinics throughout the VA Northeast Ohio Healthcare System. He has delivered multiple lectures at the Cleveland VA Resident Conference and founded and continues to direct a student externship teaching program in partnership with The Ohio State University at the Mansfield clinic.

Dr. Williams is a founding member and former co-chair of the AFOS State Legislative Relations Committee and served on the AFOS task force supporting the S.141 Elizabeth Dole Act, which advanced VA doctors of optometry to the physician pay scale. 

He has also volunteered on two mission trips to Mombasa, Kenya, providing eye care services and coordinating a pastor training seminar.

Dr. Williams lives in Mansfield, Ohio, and enjoys church, playing music, and spending time with his wife and son.
