Biography
An internationally recognized expert in academic integrity and ethics in higher education. As the Director of the Academic Integrity Office & Triton Testing Center at the University of California, San Diego, she leads innovative efforts to cultivate integrity-centered learning environments and assessment practices. With a career spanning nearly two decades, Dr. Bertram Gallant has advised universities, policymakers, and global organizations on fostering cultures of honesty and accountability in the face of emerging challenges—most recently, the integration of Generative AI in education.
A prolific author, Tricia’s books, including The Opposite of Cheating: Teaching for Integrity in the Age of AI (2025), have shaped institutional approaches to academic integrity worldwide. Her scholarship blends research with practical strategies, making her a sought-after speaker, consultant, and media commentator on issues of cheating, AI, ethics, and assessment security. Her newest book co-authored with Mary Davis (Oxford Brookes University, UK) and Zeenath Khan (University of Wollongong, Dubai), Academic Integrity in the Age of AI, was released under the GenAI in Education series by Cambridge University Press) in April 2026.
Beyond academia, Tricia’s work has influenced national and international policies on academic integrity, including collaborations with the Council of Europe and the International Center for Academic Integrity (of which she is President Emeritus). She has delivered keynote addresses and workshops across the world, engaging faculty, administrators, and students in reimagining integrity for the 21st century.

Chris is a past President/Chair of ICAI and was the Co-Chair of the Transition
Committee when ICAI moved from Clemson University to a non-profit model. Chris has published on the legality of contract cheating companies, served on the editorial board of the International Journal for Educational Integrity, engaged in peer review of academic integrity policy for Ukraine related to the Ukraine American Council Project, and been a keynote speaker at conferences in Canada and the United States.
Biography
Christopher Lang is the Director of the Office of Appeals, Discipline and Faculty
Grievances (“ADFG Office”), within the Office of the Governing Council, at the University of Toronto (“U of T”). Chris has a B.A. (Joint Honours Political Science and History), an LL.B., and an LL.M. in Alternative Dispute Resolution, and has been an employee of U of T for over twenty-five years. Chris is also a recipient of the President’s Excellence Award for Influential Excellence.
Chris’s office is formally neutral and oversees and supports fifteen quasi-judicial
processes/types of hearings, including the University Tribunal. The cases before the Tribunal often include the most serious allegations of academic misconduct, and can attract high-profile interest, including from the media. A lawyer by training, Chris’s office is responsible for ensuring the highest level of procedural fairness for students facing allegations.
As Director, Chris often works with senior administrators, including the President,
governors, the Provost and the Secretary of the Governing Council, as well as up to 150 volunteers. Chris’s areas of expertise include alternative dispute resolution, process design, policy development, legal requirements of natural justice, and governance. |

David Rettinger served as President of the International Center for Academic Integrity from 2018-2020 having been a member of the Transition Committee from 2016-2018. In 2018, David chaired the Conference Committee bringing the membership together in Richmond, VA for the first time since incorporation as a standalone organization. He also led the planning for the 2019 conference in New Orleans, LA. David has carried ICAI’s continuation of the McCabe Surveys leading the research committee for several years. He is a leading expert and speaker on academic integrity and teaching in the digital age.
Biography
David has over two decades of experience as a faculty member, currently Applied Professor and Undergraduate Program Director at the University of Tulsa. He holds a Ph.D. and MA in Psychology from the University of Colorado, Boulder and an AB from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. David has authored two books, including "The Opposite of Cheating: Teaching for Integrity in the Age of AI" (2025) and "Cheating Academic Integrity: Lessons from 30 Years of Research" (2022) both with Tricia Bertram Gallant. His research has been published in psychology and education journals, and he was a Fulbright Specialist in Nepal. His work has been featured in media outlets such as the CBS Morning Show, The New York Times, The Washington Post, Inside Higher Education, and The Chronicle of Higher Education. |
