Summary:  Assist the Sales and Promotion Director by using marketing materials to help promote Sandusky County to visitors and residents.  Assist with duties related to the group travel and leisure markets.   This position is part-time, as described in the Sandusky County Visitors Bureau Employee Handbook, however, some weekend and night hours may be required.  

Hours:  20-25 hours/week 

Compensation:  $17-18/hour depending on skill level 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:   Include the following:  (Other functions may be assigned as business conditions change) 

  1. Promote Sandusky County at trade shows.   These shows may vary from year to year. 
  2. Assist the Visitors Bureau team with all group tours coming to Sandusky County.   This entails confirming upcoming bus tours, maintaining group tour records and necessary reports utilizing Simpleview CRM. 
  3. Assist the Visitors Bureau team in greeting buses that visit the county. 
  4. Work with the Visitors Bureau team on developing experiences and visiting new locations in Sandusky County that will be attractive to travelers both inside and outside the county. 
  5. Work with the Visitors Bureau team with all aspects of the Sandusky County Visitors/Community Guide.  
  6. Maintain the Visitor/Community Guide distribution listing. Keep accurate records of the distribution and coordinate the distribution of the guides in a timely manner. 
  7. Maintain the brochure racks around the county.   The list of locations may vary. 

Supplemental Functions:  Provide assistance and support in the office: 

  1. Answer phone calls and assist with walk-in guests.   Attend staff meetings, special events in the community and surrounding areas and industry seminars to stay up to date on the latest developments, trends and regulations in the tourism industry. 
  2. Special projects and other duties as assigned.

Special Job Requirements: 

  1. Automobile required; standard IRS mileage rates are used for reimbursement for business use of personal automobile. 

The Sales and Promotion Specialist reports directly to the Executive Director of the Sandusky County Visitors Bureau.   All employee benefits and policies are addressed in the Sandusky County Visitors Bureau Employee Handbook.  Upon reading Employee Handbook, staff must sign that they have received, read, understand and agree to abide by the policies and procedures.
