Message from the Marion County Coroner
Upcoming change in our pricing for cremation authorization service
I hope this letter finds you well. I am writing to inform you of an upcoming change in our pricing for cremation authorization services. Effective March 1, 2025, our standard cremation authorizations will increase to $25 for cremation authorizations for Coroner Cases. The increase is $35 for Non-Coroner Cases ( cases that were not rep01ted to our office, and for which I will not sign the death certificate. Our office will invoice you for these services. Invoices are to be paid within 30 days of invoice receipt.
The reason for this adjustment is due to the rising staffing and operational costs required to maintain our high standard of service. As you know we must review and assure that the proper documents and signatures are in place according to Coroner law.
We understand that price changes can impact your business as well as the families you serve, and we have made every eff01t to keep this increase as minimal as possible. We appreciate your understanding and thank you for your continued support.
Additionally, within the next 30 days our office will require all cremation requests to be submitted via a p01tal that will be on our website. This will allow for better tracking and efficient services to you. Please allow at least 24 business hours for us to review the documents and send the authorization back to you.
