The Indiana Funeral Directors Association was founded in 1880 by 47 charter members. Today IFDA has grown to over 480 member firms. Headquartered in Indianapolis, IFDA provides membership services and continuing education opportunities throughout the state.

Our Mission

The mission of the Indiana Funeral Directors Association is to proactively advocate, educate, and support Indiana funeral service.

IFDA is dedicated to fulfilling its mission by:  

  • Recognizing critical issues within funeral service and providing appropriate solutions to those issues as well as addressing both external and internal audiences in all matters pertinent to the funeral profession; 
  • Being the preeminent funeral service advocate before governmental agencies, consumer groups, and suppliers; 
  • Providing educational opportunities that will enhance professionalism in its membership; and, 
  • Serving as a professional and ethical information resource to which its members may rely upon for timely and relevant assistance.
