Medicare Compliance: The “Just Show Me What To Do” Seminar for Understanding Required Medicare Documentation, Rules and Regulations for Proper Compliance – Steve Conway, DC
The speaker for this course will define and compose proper Medicare compliance procedures, with an emphasis on proper documentation to reflect services provided. Also on the agenda: An overview of Medicare compliance and documentation requirements, a review of Medicare guidelines and definitions for chiropractic treatment and required documentation, understanding the clinical requirements to support active treatment, participating / non-participating providers, treatment of non-covered services, PART analysis, the proper development of the clinical treatment plan, the ABN form, a documentation self-checklist, and informed consent and how to properly integrate an informed consent system into chiropractic practice.

In the afternoon session, MAC Insurance Director Carl Alden and Insurance Relations Manager Stephanie Davidson will provide an in-depth look at Michigan’s new auto no-fault law. How will the drastic changes brought about by the new law affect you, your patients, and your practice? What does it all mean? Carl and Stephanie have the answers you need for you and your patients to move forward. Then they will discuss correct coding for proper billing and payment. This is information you must have!
Dr. Steve Conway is a Diplomate of the American Chiropractic Board on Occupational Health and a partner in True North Chiropractic Consultants, which provides guidance and coaching to both new and seasoned chiropractors. Prior to launching his own business, Dr. Conway served as the chief operating officer and general counsel for Allied Health Chiropractic Centers, a chiropractic corporation comprised of more than 50 clinics. An occupational health expert, Dr. Conway has provided industrial consulting for companies such as John Deere, Andes Candies, Dorsey Trailers, and Lear Seating. A graduate of Logan, he is also an attorney and a member of the Wisconsin State Board of Chiropractic Examiners and the Wisconsin Bar Association.
Carl Alden is the Michigan Association of Chiropractors’ resident specialist on insurance. Most of his days are spent on the phone assisting MAC members with a variety of insurance issues. Along with these duties, Carl is also the MAC Governmental Relations Director. He is a graduate of Michigan State University.
Stephanie Davidson is the MAC’s new coding specialist. She regularly speaks at MAC events regarding insurance issues. She is the author of the MAC’s CA Chat and the administrator of the MAC’s CA Advancement Program (CAAP). She is a graduate of Central Michigan University.
