Seminar Information

Medicare. Have you ever asked yourself, “What does Medicare want from me?” From documentation requirements to compliance to Medicare’s definition of chiropractic to properly establishing “medical necessity,” Medicare can sometimes leave chiropractors feeling like they’re caught in a Medicare maze with no way out!

MAC Insurance Director Carl Alden recently completed state-of-the-art training designed to provide chiropractors with the map to navigate the maze! He will share vital strategies to ensure you get paid for your services while avoiding potential audit trouble. If your office treats Medicare patients, this is critical information you need to know!

Auto No-Fault. Earlier this year, the Michigan Legislature passed auto no-fault “reform” legislation that was signed into law by Governor Gretchen Whitmer. The resulting law has been called a “sell-out of Michigan citizens” and a “total gift to the insurance industry.” The changes brought about by the new law are almost guaranteed to affect your auto accident patients’ coverage. How will this affect you, your patients, and your practice? What does it all mean? Carl and Stephanie have the tools you need for you and your patients to move forward in auto no-fault’s confusing new world, including an easy checklist of questions to ask your auto accident patients. Don’t miss it!

The VA Health System. The VA MISSION Act is bringing massive changes to the VA Health System. Do you know what they are? From the switchover from TriWest to Optum Health to the new requirements for Veterans to receive care through the VA’s Community Care Network, Carl and Stephanie have the knowledge you need to ensure there is no disruption in the care you provide your Veteran patients.

Priority Health. After many years of fighting for coverage and reimbursement parity, earlier this year the MAC announced a new partnership with Priority Health that will result in improved patient access to chiropractic and help ensure chiropractors will be fairly reimbursed for providing necessary services. Part of this agreement began January 1st, when Evaluation and Management codes for both new and established commercial Priority Health members were “carved out” from Priority’s “per diem” payment. Carl and Stephanie will discuss when it is appropriate to bill for these codes and the nuts and bolts of the new MAC-Priority Health agreement.

This is information your office needs to make the most of in 2020 and beyond!  See you this March!

Carl Alden is the Michigan Association of Chiropractors’ resident specialist on insurance. Most of his days are spent on the phone assisting MAC members with a variety of insurance issues. Along with these duties, Carl is also the MAC Governmental Relations Director. He is a graduate of Michigan State University.

Stephanie Davidson is the MAC’s coding specialist. She regularly speaks at MAC events regarding insurance issues. She is the author of the MAC’s CA Chat and the administrator of the MAC’s CA Advancement Program (CAAP). She is a graduate of Central Michigan University.
