Downtown Ann Arbor Bikeway Loop

The initiation of the People-Friendly Street project, and the downtown bikeway loop specifically, signified a landmark shift in the city’s approach to designing streets – specifically towards prioritizing safety and access for all modes of travel.The impact of the bikeway loop has been felt in the community, and this shows through post-occupancy surveys of bikeway users, post-construction safety data, and on-going usage monitoring provided by a series of trip counters. One letter of support noted: "the planning team thoughtfully deliberated intricate tradeoffs such as circulation impacts, travel lane reconfigurations, curbside usage, and economic development."
