What sets this plan apart from other comprehensive plans is that it is truly comprehensive; it is the thread that links together all of the community’s planning initiatives across different departments to create an interdisciplinary set of goals and objectives. Between an ordinance rewrite, a recently adopted millage, and partnerships with local organizations, the City currently has 105 out of 124 action items well underway and is actively working on all 26 goals outlined in the Plan. The City also plans to invest over $10.5 million in capital improvements to achieve plan goals. Jurors said, "The Plan ties housing needs with the City’s Visioning 2040 Strategic Plan, Climate Action Plan, Sustainability Plan, and a road for a fully comprehensive zoning ordinance."
