2017 Assisted Outpatient Treatment Symposium - Nov. 2, Columbus

Make plans to attend the 2017 Assisted Outpatient Treatment Symposium
Assisted outpatient treatment (AOT) – sometimes known as “court-ordered outpatient treatment” or “outpatient commitment” – is the practice of placing individuals with severe mental illness and a history of struggling with voluntary treatment adherence under court order to follow a prescribed treatment plan while living in the community. Across the nation and here in Ohio, studies have shown that AOT can dramatically improve treatment outcomes and substantially reduce the likelihood of repeat hospitalization and criminal justice involvement for its target population.

In 2014, Governor John Kasich signed SB 43, a bill to encourage wider use of AOT.  It kindled new interest across Ohio as a strategy for meeting the needs of some of the most challenging patients. The goal of this conference is to translate that interest into action.
