ADVANCE Leadership Training
Training Our Next Generation of Leaders
Recognizing the importance of training tomorrow’s industry leader, OPRA offers Advance Leadership Training.
As our industry leaders mature, the intellectual and developmental disabilities service system will soon be faced with a shortage of quality, experienced executives. OPRA hopes to ensure the system develops the next generation of knowledgeable, disciplined thinkers to move into leadership positions in provider agencies. This program is meant for employees in your agency identified as having the potential to be outstanding administrative leaders now and into the future.
Details
This is a yearlong intensive training set to begin in January and conclude in October of every year. Participants will meet virtually via Zoom during the dates and times listed on the above 2025 ADVANCE Curriculum and Training Materials.
The ADVANCE Training class will meet the 4th Thursday of every other month from 9am-12pm. The dates are listed below. Please refer to the Updated 2025 ADVANCE Curriculum and Training Materials below for further details.
All participants need to complete the assigned readings and materials prior to each meeting.

You must purchase the book Strengths Based Leadership by Barry Conchie and Tom Rath on your own. This book must be purchased new in order to take the assessment found in the back. It is required that you complete and send your results to Jamie Steele at jamie.steele@ovrs.org prior to the January 2025 class.
All other books will be purchased by OPRA.
For provider organizations that are OPRA Members, one (1) individual from that organization may attend for $400. Additional attendees from the same member organization may participate at a tuition rate of $1,000.00 each. For non-members, any attendee may participate at a tuition rate of $1,500.00. Payment for participation must be paid in full prior to the first meeting.
Due to the popularity of the Advance Leadership Training, we are now accepting 40 dedicated students for the 2025 ADVANCE Training Class . Only one (1) excused absence is permitted for the duration of the training.
