He was the son of Herb and Charlotte Aikman. He married the love of his life, Shielda Coverdale Gooch, on November 15, 2008, in Rockville, IN.

Mike is the step-father of Jeff Gooch; Owner and Funeral Director of Gooch Funeral Homes & Crematory in Rockville and Rosedale, IN.
