Member organizations of LeadingAge Ohio have the opportunity to offer discounted continuing education through the Ohio State University Office of Geriatrics and Interprofessional Aging Studies. Employees at qualifying organizations will receive free registration and 10% off all modules in the distance education programs indicated below. The Health Literacy modules are free to anyone registered with a valid Ohio address.

Topics in Gerontology is an online distance education program that is appropriate for a wide audience of learners interested in continuing education and professional development in aging. Whether you are a seasoned gerontology professional or new to the field, you will find modules that are enlightening and helpful in your service to older adults. Currently there are 15 modules available that were developed by interprofessional faculty from the Ohio State University.

The Series to Understand and Support End-of-Life Transitions (SUNSET) is an online distance education program that is appropriate for a wide audience of learners interested in continuing education and professional development in end-of-life care. With 11 modules currently available, gain greater knowledge in end-of-life care so that you may effectively use your skills as a provider of care in the long-term services and supports network while earning valuable continuing education credit.

Mind-Body Skills Training for Resilience, Effectiveness and Mindfulness (STREAM) program is an online education program for health professionals to learn and practice skills aimed at promoting resilience in the face of stress, improving clinical effectiveness in helping patients and becoming more mindful in daily life. Using scientific research in mind-body skills you will engage in reflective practices and use online recordings of evidence-based mind-body practices. The 12 modules currently available will provide helpful information and practices to address the needs of the patients and clients for whom you care.

The Ohio State University Health Literacy distance education modules offer comprehensive professional development and continuing education in the field of health literacy. The program is appropriate for physicians, nurses, therapists, counselors and all other health care professionals providing direct or indirect patient care. The 11 modules currently available will help you build valuable knowledge and skills to more effectively communicate orally and in writing with people who have limited literacy skills.
