Sinus, tension, migraines, and cluster are the four main classifications of headaches. While musculoskeletal and biomechanical causes may be found, so may hormonal, nutritional, and environmental causes. Searching to get to the root cause can be life changing. Knowing how to find root causes through appropriate history taking, laboratory testing and examination will help the astute practitioner be more successful in the treatment of headaches. Topics include an introduction of the four classifications of headache, nutritional components of headaches, environmental causes, hormonal components, appropriate lab work and treatment protocols, and herbal/nutritional/homeopathic remedies for headaches. Attendees will understand the role that nutrients play in managing headaches and how to test and prescribe appropriately for resolution of symptoms, understand the role of estrogen, progesterone, and DHEA in the management of headaches, and be able to assess and discover the environmental elements that may contribute to the onset of chronic headaches. Dr. Cindy M. Howard is a Board-Certified Chiropractic Internist and Nutritionist in private practice and the owner of Innovative Health & Wellness Center in Orland Park, Illinois. She is also licensed in the state of Florida. She owns DC consulting, assisting private practices to improve their communication skills and improving patient adherence while building a better functional medicine and nutritional practice. For the last 12 years, she has served as the Illinois delegate for the ACA. She was the ACA recipient of the Flynn/Lynch award in 2015 for outstanding service. She is a past president of the ACA Council on Diagnosis and Internal Disorders and currently serves as the Vice President of the College of Pharmacology and Toxicology. Chiropractors deal with many daily challenges outside of actually treating the patient: business methodologies, data privacy and security, understanding emerging tech to drive improved outcomes, educating patients, and social determinants of health. This course is designed to address these issues, bringing awareness to the ethical standards that drive better results for patients and providers alike. Dr. Jay S. Greenstein is a Maryland native who received his Doctor of Chiropractic degree from National and earned his postgraduate degree in Sports Chiropractic at Logan. In this case-based lecture, our speaker will pull from patient cases read for chiropractors across the nation. She will review a search pattern and wide range of pathology from sports injury, arthritis, infection, and neoplasm, all of which have come through practicing chiropractors’ doors. Proper utilization of imaging will be covered, reminding the practicing chiropractor that arthritis is not the only pathology that could come through their door! Logan grad Dr. Alicia Yochum is a Diplomate of the American Chiropractic Board of Radiology who received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing before entering chiropractic college. She completed her diagnostic imaging residency at Logan and received her DACBR in 2015, becoming the first second-generation DACBR in the history of chiropractic. She has also completed her fellowship in musculoskeletal advanced imaging at Logan, with an emphasis on musculoskeletal diagnostic ultrasound. She has performed editorial review for the Journal of Chiropractic Medicine and serves as an Associate Editor for the Journal of the Academy of Chiropractic Orthopedics (JACO). She has published many articles in peer reviewed journals and lectured around the country, as well as in England and Germany. She currently practices at the Rocky Mountain Chiropractic Radiological Center in Arvada, Colorado.

The speaker for this course will discuss the types of aggressive behavior exhibited by patients, potential causes for this challenging behavior, and how to manage these situations while keeping yourself, your team, and other patients safe.
