Presented by Scott Gilligan

With the public increasingly turning to the internet and social media to select service providers, including funeral homes, it is important that funeral homes be aware of what their online reputation is and how to bolster it.  In this presentation, OFDA General Counsel T. Scott Gilligan will explain how online review websites like Yelp and Google work and the steps funeral homes can take to clear up negative online reviews of funeral homes.

“That’s The Way Everyone Does It” Funeral Ethics and Law for the Deathcare Profession

Presented by Poul Lemasters

Death is perhaps the most traumatic event that everyone shares at some point. As a death care provider, it is ingrained in us to help those who are in need.  But when we focus on helping – sometimes we cause other problems. Ethical and legal dilemmas are becoming a more common scenario. One common reason people find themselves in an ethical dilemma is due to lack of knowledge. This program will educate the death care provider on a few important issues that relate directly to ethics and the funeral process.
