Obituary for Marjean S. McColaugh

Marjean S. McColaugh, age 99, of Xenia, passed away early Wednesday morning at the Greenewood Manor in Xenia where she had resided the past ten years.  She was born March 9, 1918 in Clinton County, Ohio the daughter of Pearl and Dora (Butler) Smith.

Marjean was a 1936 Graduate of Cedarville High School. On March 30, 1939 she married her husband, Robert S. McColaugh.  She was one of  the oldest members of Faith Community United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the Dorcus Circle and was one of the last members of the Xenia Sewing Circle.  She had been a cafeteria manager at the former Simon Kenton Elementary School in Xenia. In 1960, together with her husband, they purchased the former Nagley Funeral Home in Xenia and proudly founded the current McColaugh Funeral Home based on their dedication to serve families in their time of need. She was the heart and soul of her family. She was a cheerful woman of great charm, with a ready smile and a loving disposition. Her example of courage, honesty, and love will be tenderly remembered. As a role model, she left her mark on several generations with her fortitude, perseverance, strength of character, and positive attitude. She lived with compassion and overflowing generosity for humanity. Her strong connection to the Lord gave her an inner aliveness that made her seem youthful despite her years. There was always a calming presence at the center of her being where she walked in union with God. She was full of love, full of hope, full of faith. Her family will not grieve, but will continue to honor with great celebration and enthusiasm all that she taught, knowing that she is forever at peace in God's home.

She was preceded in death by her parents; loving husband of 59 years, Bob on June 20, 1998, a daughter, Nancy June McColaugh; brothers: Donald and Wendell Smith and dear sister, Alberta Ford.

She is survived by her devoted children, Robert S. (Donna K.) McColaugh, Ronald A. (Ann E.) McColaugh, Ann M. (James W.) Huston and Roger D. "Rock" (Virginia F.)
