Obituary for Denise L. Mercier

Funeral Director and Manager of Geo. H. Rohde & Son Funeral Home

Denise L. Mercier passed away at her residence on Tuesday May 14, 2024, at the age of 36. Denise is survived by her parents Michael and Susan Mercier, partner and fiancé Rachel Lyons, sister Sarah (Jonathan) Thompson, nephew Weston and niece Alivia Thompson. Denise will be missed by her aunts and uncles, Rick (Judy) Mercier, Aline (Dave) Zalba, Lorraine (Phil) Porter, and Andre (Ingrid Reicher). 

She will be lovingly remembered by her many dear friends. Denise had a positive outlook on life, she was always happy and had a marvelous sense of humor. She was strong, radiated kindness and empathy. Denise had many personal interests and hobbies. Denise was a talented golfer; she started by playing on her high school golf team. She was also an active member of Ivy Hills Country Club, where she scored an ‘ace’, an ultra-rare hole-in-one. Denise loved music. She was especially interested in discovering new and upcoming artists. Denise travelled across the country to attend music concerts. Denise was also a master chef. She loved the art of making Neapolitan inspired wood fired pizzas. And she prepared gourmet inspired meals. Denise also enjoyed advanced woodworking projects, having inherited those traits from both her grandfathers Gerard Mercier and Russell Peacock. 

Denise attended Cincinnati Mortuary College, 2008 – 2011, earning a bachelor’s degree of Mortuary Science. Denise started her practicum at Rohde Funeral Home, under the guidance and mentorship of funeral home principal, Steve Rohde. Denise was extremely appreciative of the special relationship she developed with Steve over the 16 years of their working together. 

Denise was a dedicated funeral director who compassionately served families for 16 years. She was a loving woman and will be missed by everyone she touched. Cremation has taken place. Friends are invited to join the family at the Geo. H. Rohde & Son Funeral Home, 3183 Linwood Avenue, Cincinnati, OH 45208. The visitation is Thursday May 23, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, May 24 at 11:00 a.m. at the Funeral Home.
