Obituary for Raelene R. Jodway

Mother of Andrew Waite, Co-Owner of Waite & Son Funeral Homes

Raelene R. Jodway, age 68, passed away surrounded by her loving family on June 24, 2024, in Medina, Ohio. She was born in Wadsworth, Ohio to parents Richard and Charlene (Scheck) Jodway on January 13, 1956.

Rae attended St. Francis Xavier elementary school and graduated from Medina High School in 1974 where she ran Track and Field. After high school she enjoyed her time working in the Medina Community Hospital ER, and eventually owned and operated her own craft store on the square named Town House Fabrics.  Raelene was a truly gifted seamstress, crafter, and talented cook. (In her house food was love.)  She was sassy, sharp, quick-witted, and incredibly creative. She was an avid reader and a lifelong learner. More than anything, Raelene enjoyed being surrounded by her beloved grandchildren. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, friend and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Raelene is survived by her four dedicated children, Andrew (Allison) Waite, Brandon (Vanessa) Waite, Catherine (Daniel) Taylor, and Travis Carpenter (Fiancé - Taylar Larson); six beloved grandchildren, Averie, Grace, Noah (dec), Adalyn, Cecilia, Jonah, and baby Carpenter (due October 1); her parents, Richard and Charlene (Scheck) Jodway; siblings, Michael ( Kolleen) Jodway, Jennifer (Bill) Hobrecht,  Richard Jodway, Stephanie (Rod) Sulzener, Mary (Ken) Alexander , and Anne (Bernie) Byers; many nieces, nephews, dear cousins, and a lifetime of collected friends.

She is preceded in death by her beloved grandson, Noah Taylor.

Raelene’s family would like to give special thanks to the caring staff at the inpatient unit at Hospice of the Western Reserve in Medina, Broadway Creek of Medina and Rayna King for their love of our mother while she was in their care.

A funeral service was held on Wednesday, July 3, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Raelene was laid to rest at Granger Fairview Cemetery immediately following the service.
