CFP: Proven Career Development Initiatives for Students in Transition
Submissions for monograph inclusion due July 31, 2009
Dear Colleague,
The National Resource Center for The First-Year Experience and Students in Transition invites you to contribute to a new monograph designed to promote the career development of students in transition.
Data confirm that students today pursue higher education for the purpose of obtaining a better and more satisfying career. Not surprisingly, colleges and universities increasingly focus on promoting the career development and preparation of their students. Recent reports suggest that programs and services designed to promote career development are as varied as those focusing on academic success.
We invite you to submit a proposal describing evidence-based career development programs/services for students in transition on your own campus. Cases representing a variety of transition points (e.g., pre-college, the first college year, sophomore year, junior year, senior year, and post-graduation) will be included.
Submissions from postsecondary and secondary institutions of all types are invited. Proposals describing programs or services that promote the career development or preparation of students at any stage of education or transition will be considered. Example proposals might describe, but are not limited to, career modules/emphasis within student transition courses (e.g., first-year seminars, senior capstone courses), career preparation foci within service-learning experiences, or programs embedded within student service offices that promote career decision making and implementation. Programs designed to promote the effective transition of students at any stage between high school to college and college to job or post-graduate education will be considered. Successful proposals will include a detailed description of data documenting the program's effectiveness.
Deadline for receipt of proposals is July 1, 2009. Authors will be notified by August 15, 2009 if their proposed case has been accepted for inclusion in the monograph. Full case drafts will be due by October 1, 2009.
