Career Teaching Academy

NCDA's Career Teaching Academy (CTA) is geared toward career practitioners in higher education who teach (or will soon teach) undergraduate career exploration/planning courses.

This academy, for NCDA members, is for select career professionals who are either new, or seasoned instructors of career planning courses in a higher education setting. 

Applicants Selected to the Academy will:

  • Attend a series of workshops during the annual NCDA Global Career Development Conference on various topics related to teaching, career development, and working with undergraduate students
  • Network with fellow participants to share ideas, discuss existing syllabi, and more
  • Choose between engaging in a yearlong project to be presented at following conference or writing an article for the NCDA web magazine, Career Convergence
  • Maintain NCDA membership throughout participation in CTA

Eligibility:

  • Open to career professionals working in higher education who have already taught or will teach an undergrad career course by Spring 2026 / Fall 2027
  • Has interest in learning best practices in teaching undergraduate career planning courses
  • Must be able to:
    • Attend and participate in the full 1.5 day Academy
    • Register for and attend NCDA's Annual Global Career Development Conference

  • The 2026 cohort will gather in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Exact dates of the academy will be Sunday, June 28 1-5pm and Monday, June 29 8am-5pm.
  • The 2026 cohort is limited to 15 participants
  • Participants may receive a stipend to help offset costs of travel and conference participation. (tbd)
  • Full participation and attendance to the conference will be required
  • Each cohort will present at the following year's NCDA conference on projects completed during their year of service or submit an article to the NCDA web magazine, Career Convergence.
  • Apply to the CTA by January 7, 2026
