Regional Agronomy Sales Specialist

CHS Aligned Solutions is partnering with a progressive member cooperative to recruit for a Regional Agronomy Sales Specialist to join the local cooperative team in North Central Illinois.  This position is considered a mid-to-experienced career opportunity and will provide excellent growth opportunities for future career development within the company.

Position Overview:

This will be an exciting opportunity for a driven, self-starter who is seeking an opportunity to be a part of working with growers to achieve maximum production.  This person will identify and call on producers north of the Illinois River. 

The Regional Agronomy Sales Specialist will promote the proper use of crop nutrients, crop protection products, and other services offered at the cooperative, primarily to these producers by making on-the-farm sales presentations.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop a client base through on-farm visits, meetings, presentations and referrals. Build relationships with farmers that will last long-term.
  • Create and recommend specific agronomy programs to targeted accounts with the goal of increasing agronomy business.
  • Spend a majority of time in the country working with farmers to earn business.
  • Utilize Seed, Precision Farming Technology, Finance and other marketing tools to grow market share.
  • Understand the business units of the cooperative to identify and create cross selling opportunities.
  • Coordinate with the Director of Agronomy to ensure proper and timely delivery and/or application of products.
  • Report sales activity in a timely fashion to ensure proper inventory is maintained for the company.
  • Establish and maintain effective public relations through customer education and the promotion of new products.
  • Ensure that federal and state regulations pertaining to chemicals and fertilizers.
  • Work with patrons in a courteous and professional manner.

Qualifications:

  • 4 year degree in an agriculturally related major (Related job experience may substitute for education.)
  • Minimum of three years’ experience in Agronomy with a strong agronomy knowledge and experience in seed, crop scouting and precision agriculture.
  • Demonstrate strong communication / persuasive / business skills
  • Strong work ethic and proven self-starter with the ability to form strong business relationships
