Educational Trust
Members of our industry were concerned with the noticeable lack of quality people seeking career opportunities in agribusiness. Many were being lured away because of available scholarship assistance in closely related fields. In September 1993, the Ohio AgriBusiness Association Educational Trust 501(c)3 was formed to provide scholarship assistance to those students pursuing a career in agribusiness.
More than $45,000 in scholarships is distributed annually through the OABA Educational Trust. The scholarship program provides financial assistance to students enrolled in an agriculture-related field attending The Ohio State University and Ohio State ATI, Central State University, Clark State Community College and Wilmington College. Educational Trust events - Golf for Scholarships and Target: Scholarships - help raise scholarship dollars for agricultural scholarships.

Scholarship Value
Scholarship values vary with the institution, program and individual and may be used for tuition, fees and textbooks. Presently, scholarships range from $1,000 to $4,000 for a given academic year. Scholarships are awarded for a one-year period.
Scholarship Eligibility
The purpose of OABA scholarships is to assist students pursuing a curriculum that will help prepare them for a career in agribusiness. Awards are based on perceived potential in the agribusiness industry using past and current grade point averages and extracurricular activities and awards as the primary criteria for selection. They are not based on financial need.
Eligibility requirements are:

- Must have completed a minimum of one semester or quarter.
- Must have a minimum overall grade point average of 2.5 out of 4.0.
- Must be a full-time student (enrolled for 12 or more credit hours).
Note: Items 1 and 4 must be maintained during the entire semester(s) or quarter(s) for which the scholarship is awarded or it may be revoked and deemed refundable.
