Director of Agronomy – Agronomy Division Manager

CHS Member Cooperative near Tomah, Wisconsin

Seeking an agronomy focused mentor–coach–sales manager to lead an agronomy division focused on customer-first focus and professional development of team members.

CHS Aligned Solutions is partnering with a member cooperative near Tomah, Wisconsin to provide Selection Services to hire a senior-level leadership position as the Director of Agronomy. The Director of Agronomy will be responsible for overseeing the agronomy division and will report directly into the CEO.

With an agronomy division of around 90 members and 7 full-service agronomy locations, this position would be housed at the Tomah, WI branch. The service area of this position will be Adams, Arcadia, Galesville, Mauston, Plover, Tomah and West Salem.

Position Overview:

The Director of Agronomy will be responsible for coaching, mentoring and running a successful agronomy division. Our team is seeking a customer-focused individual who has excellent knowledge on how to run a successful, profitable division.

Overview of Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and direction for the Division, while establishing long and short term goals with assistance from the General Manager.
  • Responsible for purchasing of agronomy products, hedging and ensuring cost of products are competitive.
  • Actively support employee growth through professional development, reviews and goal-setting.
  • Coordinate with environmental compliance in safety programs, assessing safety procedures and supervising records that are kept representing compliance.
  • Establish and communicate department goals and results to Agronomy Location Managers through setting timelines and discussing marketing material.
  • Staff the Agronomy division and delegate workload to meet market requirements.
  • Establish and achieve department’s profitability and sales goals.
  • Increase market share through regular sales efforts and marketing strategies.
  • Ensure maintenance is organized including keeping records on replacement, additions on equipment and facility condition.

Requirements:

  • Must have an agricultural background with at least 5 years of management experience, as well as the ability to coach and motivate team members.
  • At least 5 years’ experience in diversified areas of agronomy with measurable results.
  • Must have excellent communication skills, and have the ability to effectively interact with vendors, employees, and customers alike.
  • Must have experience in drafting budgets, managing operations to the budget, purchasing and pricing, as well as the computer skills to track these areas.
  • Is detail oriented, self-starting and effectively analytical.
