Ohio Soybean Council Seeks Input for International Market Opportunity Assessment

The Ohio Soybean Council is assessing strategic international market opportunities that are a good match with the Ohio soybean supply chain and looking for input.

In the fall, OSC started the six-month project, which also seeks to identify a more cohesive and coordinated approach to its international marketing effort. In order to accomplish this, it needs to know where Ohio soybeans flow; what qualities are demanded by the various players in the market; who are the stakeholders willing and able to collaborate with OSC’s international marketing effort; how can OSC best and most equitably connect interested partners with new market opportunities; how can OSC best staff this ongoing activity, and what are some realistic benchmarks for measuring progress and success.

WKM Global Consulting, which is doing the assessment, is looking for ideas and suggestions from all parties involved in the soybean value chain, including production, handling, storage, marketing and transportation logistics. The project will end in March.

The goal of the project is to increase exports of Ohio soybeans and develop a more focused and coordinated international marketing plan for the future that involves interested strategic supply chain partners.
