OABA travels to D.C. to lobby Congress on federal ag issues

Lobbying trip to Washington D.C.Ohio AgriBusiness Association joined state and national organizations last week in lobbying members of Congress on behalf of agriculture businesses and groups.

In the photo from left are John Oster of Morral Companies LLC, OABA President and CEO Chris Henney, Rep. Bob Gibbs, Andy Swerlein of Luckey Farmers, Inc. and Dan Ulrich of CropLife Media Group. They also met with members of Congress or their staff from the offices of Sens. Sherrod Brown and Rob Portman and House members John Boehner, Marcia Fudge, Marcy Kaptur and Bob Latta. The topics discussed included transportation infrastructure, water quality, biotechnology and issues related to the Commodity Futures Trade Commission.

OABA also hosted a congressional reception at the Rayburn House Office Building foyer in partnership with other state agribusinesses.

Periodic trips to D.C. help our congressional delegation put names and faces to the issues our industry faces. It also helps our member participants better understand how the process works,” Henney said.
