Conference to address how to reduce off-site movement of nutrients

Early registration due by this Friday

 

The All Ohio Chapter of the Soil & Water Conservation Society will be holding a conference that addresses technologies and techniques for reducing off-site movement of nutrients and the barriers of their adoption and implementation.

 

The conference will be held March 17 from 8:30 am to 4:40 pm at the Ohio Department of Agriculture, Bromfield Auditorium located at 8995 E. Main St., Reynoldsburg. The cost of the event, which includes lunch and refreshments, is $40 for Soil & Water Conservation Society members and $50 for non-members. Student members of the society can register for $20. There is a $10 late fee for those registering after this Friday.

 

The conference has been pre-approved for Certified Crop Advisor Continuing Education Units in the following categories: five hours of soil & water management and one hour of nutrient management.

 

Speakers for the conference include: Kevin Elder, chief of the Ohio Department of Agriculture, Division of Livestock Environmental Permitting; Dr. Larry Brown, professor, Ohio State University's Department of Food, Agricultural & Biological Engineering; Glen Arnold, nutrient management field specialist, Ohio State University Extension; Dr. Douglas R. Smith, research soil scientist, National Soil Erosion Research Laboratory, West Lafayette, Ind.; Jim Hoorman, Extension educator in Putnam County; Dr. Warren Dick, professor, Environment & Natural Resources, Ohio Agricultural Research & Development Center; Bret Margraf, nutrient management technician, Seneca Soil & Water Conservation District, and Dr. Linda Stalker Prokopy, associate professor of Natural Resources Social Science, Department of Forestry and Natural Resources, Purdue University.
