Agrex Inc. in Bowling Green, Ohio is hiring a Grain Merchandiser. This position is accountable for daily trading activity for Eastern Division under the direction of the supervisor. The person is responsible for trading commodity positions, developing and supporting relationships with suppliers and end users, maximizing profit for Agrex Inc. and adhering to strict business ethics and company policies.
Responsibilities
- Originate commodities for Alabama elevators located in Mobile and Montgomery, as well as originate corn for Western New York Energy ethanol plant and OP-Nutrition Feed Mill and other company assets and positions.
- Merchandise truck grain origination and sales through the Southeast and solicit new trading opportunities.
- Coordinate truck logistics
- Trade grain basis and futures/basis spreads Understand basis relationship, grain flow, and have ability to capture opportunities that the market presents Hedging cash grain positions
- Update bids daily for Eastern Division buying points and local competition
Knowledge Required
- Requires in depth knowledge of grain trading, futures hedging, marketing, truck and rail logistics and background in merchandising.
- Computer experience in both Word and Excel.
- Good communication skills with the ability to work with people inside and outside the company.
- Grain accounting background preferred.
- Be familiar with daily long and short positions.
- Attention to detail to detail a must.
Physical Aspects of Position
This position is primarily working at an office desk, communicating with people by phone and email. Travel is on an as needed basis.
