OABA Shares Key Agribusiness Issues at Annual Legislative Fly-In

Ohio AgriBusiness Association President and CEO Chris Henney joined more than 100 other state and national organizations in Washington, D.C. for the 2017 State Agribusiness D.C. Fly-In. The fly-in is hosted annually by national partners, including the Agricultural Retailers Association, Biotechnology Industry Organization, CropLife America and The Fertilizer Institute.

Henney was joined by four OABA members: John Oster, Morral Companies, LLC and vice chair of the Agricultural Retailers Association; Jean Bratton, Town & Country Co-op; Steve Kacerski, Packer Thomas; and David Barrett, Barrett, Easterday, Cunningham and Eselgroth, LLP. The group met with Ohio Congressmen Bob Gibbs, Tim Ryan, Bob Latta and Bill Johnson, as well as the staff members of Reps. Jim Renacci, Steve Stivers, Dave Joyce, Michael Turner, Brad Winstrup, Marcia Fudge, Steve Chabot and Jim Jordan.

During the visits, the group shared several key issues impacting Ohio agribusinesses. Among other topics, conversations focused on regulatory reform, rollback of the Environmental Protection Agency’s Risk Management Plan final rule, elimination of the duplicative National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System Pesticide General Permit and tax reform.

“OABA is committed to advocating for our members’ interests by sharing their concerns with our legislators and their staff in Congress,” said Henney. “By traveling with our members to Washington, we allow them to share their individual stories, putting a face to Ohio agribusiness.”
