OABA Signs Letter to Commerce Secretary Ross Outlining NAFTA Withdrawal Impacts for Agriculture

The Ohio AgriBusiness Association, with nearly 90 agribusinesses and organizations, signed a respectful letter that the Food and Agricultural Dialogue for Trade sent to Department of Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross. The letter addresses Ross' recent comments that harm to American food and agriculture interests from a potential NAFTA withdrawal is an “empty threat” because there is “not a world oversupply of agricultural products.”

The letter outlines the benefits NAFTA has had for the agricultural industry, including increased trade and decreased cost of inputs, as well as detailing the impact for specific sectors of the industry.
